South African esports gets its own TV show – This is VS Gaming Weekly

VS Gaming Weekly

VS Gaming Weekly is South Africa’s first free-to-air gaming show. It aims to provide a dedicated platform for local video game enthusiasts to stay up to date with esports news. It’ll air every Wednesday at 17:30 on SABC 3 and Telkom’s streaming platform, TelkomOne.

The show will be hosted by content creators George ‘Okay Wasabi’ Mnguni and Sibu Mpanza. Together, they will provide viewers with local gaming news and content including an in-depth look at the players and teams that compete in the budding local esports scene.

VS Gaming goes Weekly

Telkom-backed VS Gaming is one of South Africa’s largest independent gaming brands and a regular tournament organiser for esports in the country. The hope with VS Gaming Weekly is that making coverage of esports more accessible will further increase its popularity.

The show will explore the esports pros and teams competing in the local VS Gaming league. It will also feature insights into the VS Gaming Masters for the biggest esports titles in the country, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League.

Viewers will get the latest news and trends from the hosts as well as weekly celebrity guest challenges with CamCeej, Priddy Ugly, Candice Modisellle, and CarpoMore set to appear.  There’ll be interviews with esports gamers on the age-old Xbox vs PlayStation debate and one with South African actor, stand-up comic, and writer Mojak Lehoko.

If you miss the Wednesday 17:30 airing or don’t like SABC 3 for some reason then you can catch reruns on Wednesday at 23h00 on SABC 1 or on Fridays at 22h00 and Saturdays at 11h00 on SABC Sport.
