Stressed? Go and play this free rock-stacking simulator for a while

Rock Stacking

The world can be a very stressful place. Sometimes you just need to escape from it all. Have you considered the power of rock? Not rock music, though that is useful as well. No, we’re talking about literal stones. More or less.

A developer called Neal Agarwal has a collection of small browser-based experiences on his website. One of these is called Rocks. It should bring your heart-rate and blood pressure down a notch or two.

Rock on

The premise is simple enough. There’s a calming soundtrack, which sounds just like the ocean, and four rocks. All you have to do is stack ’em. Or not. Gravity physics and an irregular shape to your carbon-based toys mean it’ll take some contemplative patience to get them stacked on top of each other.

If that’s a little too zen for your current state of mind, there are other, more educational stuff in store. You can see how large things in space are. Spoiler: space is really, really large. There’s a visual representation of your typical day (if you’re honest with yourself, anyway). You can see what lives where in the ocean. Or you can create the perfect combination of ambient noise to make you productive enough to make up for the time you spent playing free games on the internet.
