At this point, we’re not even surprised by the sheer amount weird and wonderful gadgets Xiaomi puts out. A first for us, we tested out a hairdryer under the Xiaomi’s subbrand called Jimmy. We don’t know who Jimmy is, but he produces some quality haircare devices, that’s for sure. Meet the Jimmy F6 negative ion hairdryer.
Keep in mind that we’re simple folk. I’ve used the same R300 hairdryer for some 10 years. It blows hot (or cold) air onto my scalp-appendages and makes it not-wet. But sometimes you need something more… robust and tech-infused. That’s what the Jimmy F6 brings to the table: some intriguing tech that makes drying your hair a new, exciting experience.
According to some of the accompanying documents, the Jimmy’s new tech can not only dry your hair, but also improve your hair’s health.
The Jimmy likes to travel
Of course, the Jimmy F6 is not a basic hairdryer, with its sleek packaging and high price tag, you expect the thing to give you a full day at the spa.
The whole setup comes in a package you’d expect from a luxury brand. At first sight, it doesn’t look like a Xiaomi product. It’s done a great job at differentiating the Jimmy brand from Xiaomi, that’s well-known for its vacuum and kitchen tech beyond the more widely known phones and TV boxes. The package comes equipped with all the accessories you’ll need. Along with the hairdryer, you get a variety of attachment accessories designed for different hair types.
The Jimmy’s got a soft touch
On to the technical stuff — this is our forte. The Jimmy comes with a few buttons — more than we’ve ever seen on a general hairdryer. It’s got one for power, one for temperature, one for the mode and one for speed.
In the middle of the blowing part, you will find a small round hole where the Negative ION Hair Dryer PID Intelligent Heat Control technology is located. Basically, it uses a semiconductor cooling module. This thing condenses water molecules in the air and, in turn, releases a large amount of nano-aqueous ions under high-pressure electrolysis.
What I’m trying to say, is that it blasts water molecules mid-air to make things dry. That’s all you need to know, really. This means your hair won’t get too much heat damage — something you get from conventional dryers.
Jimmy F6 Verdict
Overall, the tech is mighty impressive, the design cannot be faulted in the least and the packaging makes this feel as premium as you’re gonna get. The Jimmy F6 impressed me, even though it just dried my hair.
