PUBG heading to PlayStation 4 in December with platform-specific cosmetics in tow

It was rumoured when Microsoft made PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds free on Xbox (for a limited time) but now it has been confirmed. PUBG will launch on Sony’s PlayStation 4 very, very soon — expect to get your battle royale on from 7 December this year.

There are several editions of the popular multiplayer game coming, with the base game costing $30 (about R440) and a Survivor’s and Champion’s edition costing $50 and $60 (R730 and about R900) respectively. We’d expect those prices to sit around R550 for the base game, and about the R800 and R1,000 marks for the more feature-packed editions. Both of the more expensive versions come with G-Coin and in-game item bonuses.

There are also platform-specific skins coming to the game. Roam the three maps available at launch (Erangel, Miramar and Sanhok) as the snarky Nathan Drake (the skin is a pre-order bonus), and there are bits from The Last of Us (Ellie’s backpack, for starters) also coming. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot more of Sony’s exclusive content showing up as cosmetic extras after PUBG‘s PS4 launch.
