The upcoming rAge LAN will have something for everyone

Johannesburg’s massive geek and gaming expo, rAge,  is coming up, and the organisers have decided to make a few changes to the NAG LAN setup to accommodate all gamers.

This year, there will be three dedicated LAN areas that gamers can choose from when buying tickets — which will be going on sale this weekend so make sure you get yours. Many gamers choose to keep going throughout the whole weekend and rock up with pillows and sleeping bags to take short naps between gaming sessions, and it can get a bit uncomfortable.

No, rAge isn’t planning on setting up beds for everyone, but there will be separate areas, each for different ‘types’ of gamers. Two of the areas will be fully carpeted, one will have padded chairs, and two will be quieter and more secluded from the expo show floor for more privacy. It all depends on what you’d prefer. Or if you’re a hardcore cosplayer.

Many cosplayers purchase LAN tickets just to have a central area to keep their cosplays and to rest when not parading around in a 20kg set of armour, and now they can choose to set up in the carpeted location or the area with padded chairs.

Gamers will also have the freedom to take naps in their chairs or under their desks without being disturbed by security. The guys over at rAge get that long hours of gaming can be exhausting, and you may have to take a nap, buddy. Don’t tire yourself out. That’s what Sunday afternoon is for.

The NAG LAN will be at rAge and will run from 5-7 October. Tickets will go on sale on 28 July 2018 at 09:00, and can be bought either on their website or at Computicket outlets. They sell out very quickly, though, so make sure you’re there ready to help crash whichever website you attempt to buy from. Tickets for the LAN area will cost R700 per person, which includes access to the expo all weekend. A B&B for the weekend will cost you more, so that sounds like a decent deal to us.
