The ZTE Axon M is a smartphone packing dual 5.2in displays

We know that we’ve been keen on a folding display smartphone for a long time but this isn’t what we were expecting to see. ZTE’s newly-announced Axon M is set to arrive, in the States first before making it to the rest of the world, with dual 5.2in 1080p displays.

The dual display setup might be folding but it’s hinged rather than using a flexible screen to create its effect. But you’ve got two screens which is good, right? When closed, the handset has a display on each side, meaning that your FOMO won’t be twitching because you can’t see your social media updates. It’ll have a Dual Mode, which will allow you to use two apps at once, or an extended mode what will run an app across both displays.

The displays are the most unique feature about the Axon M as we’ve seen some of their specifications before, notably the processor. You might recognise the Snapdragon 821 as the chip that appeared in most of our Top 10 phones in 2016 — it’s back.

4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 3,140mAh battery, and a 20MP camera. It’s not a front or rear camera, it lives inside the fold created by the two screens so it’s a… hidden camera? Regardless, it’s the only one found in the Axom M.

Pricing for the device aside from network pricing on America’s AT&T network, where it will be launching first, has not been announced. We’d love to give it a try, if only for the very unique form factor, so hopefully a few appear a bit closer to home.
