Injustice 2’s Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle take turns bouncing off the scenery

Injustice used to be the Stuff office problem solver, right after we stopped Ryan from using Green Lantern ever again, so we’re keen on getting some time with DC’s heroes in NetherRealms’s Injustice 2. There are a few issues that need resolving…

Two new heroes have been revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, over the weekend, and NetherRealm haven’t left the rest of us in suspense. Wonder Woman is back and we have our first look at her sword, shield and lasso-based gameplay in the reveal trailer above. Her combat skills are surprisingly brutal, particularly that two-footed stomp on that poor red fellow who (probably) perishes just before Blue Beetle shows up.

Yes, Blue Beetle. We were confused too (there are three of them) but this is Blue Beetle as portrayed by Jaime Reyes, who gets his superpowers from an alien scarab beetle, giving him Lantern-like abilities. Beetle is also capable of dealing a whole lot of (morphing) damage. At least, that’s how he rolls in Injustice 2.

In between the standard and painfully-effective special attacks on show, there is a run of stage attacks and even a stage transfer (involving a water-filled pipe, a spinning blade and Wonder Woman) to be seen. Ouch.

Injustice 2 is slated for a 2017 release, on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Expect more character reveals as we get closer to launch.
