Here are 7 pulse-pounding minutes from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Soap, you magnificent bastard. We’ve missed you.

It’s going to be fantastic saving the free world (kinda) in Captain ‘Soap’ Mactavish’s company once again and this section of footage from Activision, showing what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered looks like when it’s all shined up, just ups the excitement factor.

Old hands will remember the mission being demonstrated, called Crew Expendable, which sees players tagging along with Soap and hitting a cargo-ship at sea. Old reflexes will kick in as each checkpoint comes and goes, though Activision have trimmed down the mission’s length to better distract us with all the shiny new textures. Which, we have to admit, look a whole lot better than we remember the original 2007 game being.

Besides the ship-storming gameplay there’s a smattering of the other sections of the game which have been given a fresh  coat of paint, which are shown at the very end of the video. The new look alone would be reason to get hold of Modern Warfare Remastered but we’re most excited by the thought of tackling the multiplayer again for the first time in a very long time. There are ten maps coming to CoD: MW R – Crash, Backlot, Crossfire, Overgrown and Bog are confirmed so far. We’re in it just for the first three but the others… let’s just say we’re looking forward to a little n00btube action again.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be available with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare when the newest game in the series launches on 4 November. Activision has previously said that you’ll need to buy Infinite Warfare to be able to play Modern Warfare Remastered but we suspect the company likes money too much to let that state of affairs continue for too long.
