The next Call of Duty, which will be called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare according to leaks, might have a bumper-sized bonus arriving with it: an updated version of the game that kicked off the multiplayer revolution.
A photo posted to Reddit, supposedly snapped at US shop chain Target, apparently shows a Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reservation card. As well as the 4th of November release date, which matches up with Call of Duty’s usual annual cycle, the card also shows a bundled version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remastered.
The Reddit user has since deleted their account, so it’s by no means confirmed. We don’t even know if the Infinite Warfare name is right yet, but the COD fanboy inside us wants to believe.
Anyone that remembers sprinting around Crash, sniping down the middle of Pipeline and calling in helicopters to rain down fire on Overgrown will be pleased to hear an updated version might be on the way.
It opened the floodgates for the character classes, weapon attachments and killstreaks that have turned up in practically every online shooter since.
A remastered version would naturally need to keep the 60fps gunplay that’s been a staple of the COD series for years, but we’re also hoping for some updated visuals that really push the power of the PS4 and Xbox One.
Hopefully there’s not too long to wait to find out if this is true, either – Activision is supposed to reveal all about the new Call of Duty next week.
