MultiChoice to launch digital terrestrial television GOtv in SA for R99pm

DStv provider MultiChoice will soon be launching South Africa’s first digital terrestrial television (DTT) platform, which will be known as GOtv. GOtv is a DTT service that the company already offers in other African countries.

GOtvThe service, according to technology news website TechCentral, will cost users R99 per month for a so-called “Value” bouquet. Included in the bouquet is M-Net Movies Zone, Africa Magic Epic, Mzansi Wethu, Mzansi Bioskop, TLC Entertainment, NickToons and Disney Junior. As far as sports go (the major reason you want a paid-for TV service, let’s be honest), viewers get SuperSport Blitz and SuperSport Select at their fingertips.

Decoders and an antenna, called a GOtenna, will be going on sale shortly at R700 and R300 respectively. MultiChoice have also made a DTT coverage map available.

MultiChoice has an official GOtv unveiling scheduled for tomorrow morning, where any additional pertinent information about the service should be made available. We’ll keep you posted.
