These are the skaters in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 has some very large shoes to fill and there is some worry that developer Robomodo might not be up to the task. The initial reveal of THPS 5 drew criticism due to its dated-looking visuals and the subsequent reveal of a cel-shaded look didn’t fare much better.

That hasn’t stopped the Birdman himself from introducing the roster of skaters who will be staffing Pro Skater 5 when it launches for the Xbox 360, One, PlayStation 3 and PS4 at the end of September, along with a whack of gameplay showing the stages, tricks and the special moves in store.

There’s a diverse group of skaters, from the Hawk and his son to older legends and newer faces on the scene – each of whom have earned their stripes and/or scars to be here. But will it be enough?

The venerable Tony Hawk series has been around for a long, long time indeed, with the pinnacle of the series taking place on the PlayStation One with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. That particular game also saw release on the PlayStation 2 and several more modern launches, with the most memorable releases in recent memory being the story-based Tony Hawk’s Underground series, have taken place since. THPS 5 is looking to recapture the look and feel of the PS1 days by the look of things. We’ll know in about a month whether the move has succeeded.
