Get your hands on Black Ops III early with the August multiplayer beta

If you’re a first-person shooter fan, what’s the best thing you could possibly have before the launch of the next game? A head-start, that’s what, and that’s what Activision has in store for gamers come August this year. Call of Duty: Black Ops III will have a multiplayer beta kicking off in August for gamers on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Blops 3First up is the PlayStation 4, where gamers will have a beta weekend at their disposal. 19 August to 23 August is where sleeplessness will be a thing for PS4 gamers (and more than a few sick days taken from school/the office, we would guess). Xbox One and PC gamers will get the same length of time but the dates are a bit later – 26 August to 30 August.

There is a bit of work involved to get into the beta and by ‘work’ we mean ‘cash’. Those who have pre-ordered the game will get a code for the beta test so they can get a taste of what is to come at the beginning of November this year. Unfortunately if you’re banking on getting the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 versions of Black Ops III, there’s no beta test for you.

Activision plans to detail what gamers can expect from the test at a later stage but players will be able to try out different Specialist classes and “…try the new momentum-based, chained movement system”. Along with finding their new favourite camping and spawn-kill spots, of course.
