Time for an interactive lap around Silverstone in a Mustang V8

YouTube player

Taking a lap on Silverstone while in a Ford Mustang 5.0 V8, like hitching a ride on a fighter jet, is nothing but a dream for many.

But there is a way to get a sense of the experience without shelling out for an Oculus Rift or another piece of VR equipment. Ford has released a 360-degree video of the 2015 Ford Mustang V8 on the track at Silverstone and, assuming you have the screen and internet connection, you can take your virtual trip in 4K if you like.

Like the Patrouille Suisse F-5 jet video, viewers can pan around the vehicle while they’re watching. Unlike the aerial experience, you won’t be able to see the person filming.

There’s a slightly different version of the video, which features additional points of view and on-screen speed and tachometers, on Ford UK’s website (link below). It won’t work for everyone though, while the YouTube vid is a lot more compatible with desktop and mobile browsers.
