Batman: Arkham Knight pulled for PC due to performance issues

If you haven’t already gotten hold of your copy of Batman: Arkham Knight, which was released earlier this week, then listen up. While the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Arkham Knight are getting good to great reviews, the PC version of the Dark Knight’s outings has been pulled from sale due to performance issues.

The problems consist of a capped frame rate (at 30fps) but despite this players are still seeing stuttering and frame drop while playing. The hassles appear to stem from a poorly optimised game, rendering it pretty much unplayable on the most powerful platform out there. The result is that digital and physical sales of the game have been halted.

The poor optimisation seems to have been laid at the door of an external studio responsible for porting the game to PC. The studio, believed to be Iron Galaxy Studios, has done port work in the past.

Why Warner Bros. would release a game in this state – you can check out RockPaperShotgun‘s video footage of the PC version below – makes little sense considering the delays it faced prior to release and the high profile of the title. As it is, there’s no word on when the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight will go back on sale or when it will be playable for those who have already purchased it.

WB Games said “If you purchased your copy of the game and are not satisfied with your experience, then we ask for your patience while these issues are resolved. If desired, you can request a refund at help.steampowered.com (Steam refund policies can be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds) or the retail location where you purchased the game.”
