Prepare yourself for February with the opening cinematic for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt

We’ve been following the development of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt very closely on the strength of the first two games to issue forth from developer CD Projekt. As we edge closer to the 24 February release date, there’s something more to whet our appetites for this open-world role-playing game starring Polish-conceived mutant and all-round badass Geralt of Rivia – the game’s opening cinematic sequence.

Setting the tone for the game to come, players are treated to the sight of hero (depending on your point of view) Geralt tracking the moments of Yennefer of Vengerberg, his long-lost love, through the aftermath of a battlefield. In between we get to see just how this sorceress made her way through two clashing armies and the results are… spectacular.

If this was a motion picture we’d watch the hell out of it, the fact that we’re going to have control of the events that will be taking place in The Wild Hunt early in 2015 has just made us wish that the Festive Season would come and go already.

Catch the cinematic below.
