Want to make extra money for jam by completing quick jobs with your mobile phone? Then M4JAM might be what you’re looking for. The “microjob” platform connects consumers looking to earn extra cash with brands and businesses that need odd jobs completed.
Interest users can sign up to the service using instant messaging service WeChat (by adding M4JAM as a contact) and can earn up to R15 per job. All jobs need to be completed within allotted time frames and users can sign up for up to five jobs at a time, all of which will need to be completed before they are eligible for new jobs.
Users cash out their earnings using the Mobile Money service (for which there’s a transaction fee of R4 per withdrawal). Users needn’t cash out after every job, but can instead allow their payments to accrue to minimise the impact of the withdrawal fee.
When a cash-out request is made the user receives an SMS code from M4JAM. This code then allows the user to withdraw cash at Pick n Pay or Boxer stores nationwide. Full terms and conditions are available here.
Brands and businesses, meanwhile, can register with M4JAM to get access to the platform’s user base, with which they can then conduct market research, plan brand activations, or engage in social investment, research and auditing. Brands also receive the contact details for those users who complete their jobs, allowing them to engage with those users directly.
M4JAM is also developing an application programming interface (API) for the platform to allow third parties to build M4JAM functionality into their own websites or mobile applications.
