Better late than never: Nike releases Android Fuelband app

It’s been a very, very long time in coming but now you don’t need to own an iPhone in order to make use of Nike’s Fuelband. The sporting goods and gear company has finally unveiled an app for Android that will allow Fuelband owners to take something a little different along while they’re breaking their own records.

The Fuelband 1.0 is not supported by the new Android app, which we were not even sure we were getting up till now, but that’s about all that it doesn’t do. The Android app will let users track and upload NikeFuel data to their online profiles, customise their displays and track or update their goals from their wrists. We have to wonder now if Nike might not have a new Fuelband in the works as a result of the app launch.

Compatibility for the app is optimised for Samsung’s last three flagship devices, the Nexus 5, HTC One and the Moto X. By that we mean that you’ll need to own one of them to get your Android on. If you’d like to grab some Android loving for your Nike wristwear, you can get it here.
