Grand Theft Auto V headed to PC, PS4 and Xbox One this year

Announced during Sony’s media presentation at this year’s E3 convention in Los Angeles and later expanded upon by Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto V will be making the jump to the new generation of gaming consoles as well as the PC by the end of this year. That last item has long been rumoured to be happening but now we have official confirmation.

According to Rockstar, the game “…will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans.”

That’s a substantial upgrade on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, while the updated title will also feature an expanded online mode with more weapons, vehicles, activities and jobs. On top of that, players will be able to transfer online progress from the Xbox 360 or PS3 to one of the new platforms when GTA V is released this ‘fall’. Or around September, if you’d like it in a South African time frame.
