Google sold Motorola to Lenovo after scooping out the bits that the search company wanted to make use of and Motorola, of course, is still making phones. There is supposed to be an announcement event taking place tomorrow regarding the first Lenovo/Motorola handset but a Brazilian website and store called FastShop has jumped the gun and unveiled the specs for a phone called the Moto E.
The mistake was noticed and the page has since been pulled online but not before the specs were recorded for posterity. Or until tomorrow, anyway.
The Moto E isn’t going to be taking the fight to high-end phones, based on the specifications that have been revealed. Instead it’s closer to being a low-end smartphone, with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon dual-core processor, 1GB of system memory and 4GB of storage being the chief features. There certainly seem to be a lot more of these sorts of phones announced just lately – likely it has something to do with manufacturers targeting the less wealthy section of the market.
Also revealed was a 1,980mAh battery and a 5MP camera, as well as dual-SIM and microSD support (32GB). Pretty standard for a phone of this type. There hasn’t been any pricing detailed, nor do we know yet which operating system the Moto E will run but we should have those details late tomorrow.
