Gigabyte set to discharge a Brix II gaming PC

Computing hardware company Gigabyte have got a new gaming PC in the works which is barely larger than a standard PSU. Called the Brix II, the hardware that this tiny machine contains might just make a few gamers expel a few bricks of their own.

The new Brix II, the first iteration of which was launched by Gigabyte, is set to launch in December this year and will pack in Intel’s new Haswell chips. Some models will also include Intel’s Iris Pro graphics solution, which has been likened to having one of Nvidia’s GeForce GT 650M GPUs installed.

The system will ship with an HDMI port, four USB 3.0 ports, ethernet and WiFi as well as an audio jack (obviously) and should see it taking pride of place in a home entertainment system. Digital distribution platform Steam’s Big Picture feature should be getting a lot of play with the Brix II bu there is a slight catch. The Brix II will not ship with any system memory or storage so prospective buyers will have to supply their own RAM and hard drives.

The Brix II should show up on the radar later this year, priced between $500 and $600 (R4,950 and R5,950). Head over to the source link to see the diminutive gaming PC in person.
