For your viewing pleasure: a folding electric car

There is compact and then there is compact. Researchers from the Graduate School for Green Transportation at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) have come up with the Armadillo-T, a concept compact electric car which is able to fold itself over to reduce the amount of space that it takes up.

The car isn’t anywhere near ready for public consumption yet but there are some other interesting features in the works. Cameras have taken the place of rear view mirrors and there is apparently seating for two people hidden in there somewhere. KAIST researchers haven’t really decided how the vehicle might be implemented when and if it becomes available but it might be used to link major public transport hubs in larger cities. Perhaps one day, instead of renting a bicycle in London or Germany, you’ll be scooting about in an ultra-compact Armadillo.
