Nokia rolls out WeChat for Asha Touch phones

Nokia has announced that their low-cost Asha Touch series of handsets have now got access to the WeChat social messaging platform. WeChat is a messaging app, similar to WhatsApp, which allows users to send text, video and voice messages to their friends.

Nokia’s Head of Developer Ecosystem for East and Southern Mark Strathmoresaid in a statement “We’re excited about WeChat’s support to launch WeChat for Nokia Asha smartphones. WeChat enriches the Nokia Asha user experience and we look forward to working closely with WeChat to bring even more innovative features to our customers across all our smartphones and in a growing number of countries and devices.”

Users with one of Nokia’s Asha range of phones can now download WeChat either via the app’s official website or through Nokia’s Store.
