Instagram adds embed facility for videos and images

Facebook-owned Instagram has rolled out the ability to embed items found on the photo and video sharing service, a feature that Instagram was lacking until now.

It was previously possible to embed Instagram content into another webpage but the process was rather involved. The new Share button, introduced yesterday by Instagram, simplifies the operation considerably by giving users the embed code at their fingertips.

Instagram’s blog post points out that embedding content elsewhere will result in the content owner’s Instagram handle, as well as a link back to their page on the service. In addition, only public posts will be getting the share button, private content will remain so.
