Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra, announced globally yesterday, got its official South African reveal today at a small media-only event hosted by Sony Mobile South Africa at Vodacom World in Midrand in Johannesburg.
Stuff Magazine got to go hands-on with a prototype of the device following a short presentation on the handset’s capabilities. Stuff will have a short first look available shortly but notable about the handset is the fact that it is intended to be a smartphone rather than a tablet. A large smartphone, certainly, but Sony has said that it is first and foremost a smartphone.
Also present at the event was Sony’s Smartwatch 2, which will be launching alongside the Xperia Z Ultra in September this year. Pricing, despite many sneaky queries, is still not available yet.
