The death of a loved one is never easy to deal with, but perhaps the latest tombstone technology will help their memory live on. Yes, you read right, tombstone technology.
An American family, the Millers, have come up with a technology that allows family members to email photos, videos, documents and music linked to the departed to a central location, which is then assembled into a tribute and uploaded onto a secure website. The resulting digital tribute is then given a unique QR barcode, which is sent to the existing family, complete with a heavy-duty weather resistant adhesive, in the mail. This is then stuck onto the grave.
A smartphone with the relevant app can scan this barcode and have access to all of the uploaded media. A great idea for a memorial. And the price?
A lifetime subscription sells for $150 (R1520) and a subscription for one year is $99 (R1010). Some might say that it is a small price to pay for memories to virtually live on.
