Sony takes a stab at the Xbox One’s used games policy

Sony’s close partnership with Ubisoft in the last year may have given their marketing department some ideas taken from Assassin’s Creed. Ideas of the ‘stab while they’re not looking’ sort.

Speaking at Sony’s E3 conference Sony Computer Entertainment America president and CEO Jack Tretton said “PlayStation 4 won’t impose any new restrictions on used games. This is a good thing. When a gamer buys a PS4 disc, they have the rights to that copy of the game.” Tretton also pointed out that Sony’s new console would not stop players from gaming if its internet connection was interrupted for more than 24 hours.

In addition Sony also took to Twitter to share their  “Official PlayStation Used Game Instructional Video”, which details just how sharing games works on the PlayStation 4 (with a multiplayer caveat in small print towards the end). The fairly humorous video is in response to the lengthy explanation Microsoft issued regarding the Xbox One’s lending and reselling policy just prior to the start of E3.
