Switch

YouTube this past weekend celebrated its eighth birthday and, to celebrate, the streaming video service shared the latest lot of statistics pertaining to its content.

According to The Verge YouTube was seeing 48 hours worth of video being uploaded every minute in 2011. Last year that number had risen to 72 hours uploaded per minute. YouTube has now revealed that users are uploading a massive 100 hours worth of video every minute to the service.

YouTube claims millions of partners involved in making content for viewing and also says that “almost one out of every two people on the Internet” pays a visit to the site every month. More than 1 billion people are making stops at YouTube, most of them to watch cat videos in all likelihood.
