Absa finally joins the ranks of SA banks with banking apps

Absa Bank has today launched their very own banking app, available now for Android and iOS devices with a BlackBerry version in the works to be released later.

The app, titled only Banking App from Absa, features what the company’s Head of Retail Banking Arrie Rautenbach calls “a visually rich interface” and also has a video tutorial to teach users how to access Absa’s mobile services. It will be able to access the user’s GPS, in order to provide directions to the nearest Absa ATM, as well as contacts, “to make the sending of airtime or cash to friends and family quick and easy”.

A range of financial calculators are included with the app, as well as the standard range of banking app functions like balance checks, money transfers and payments. Absa says that the app can be configured to allow multiple users to access their banking on a single device or a single user to access their account across multiple devices.

Rautenbach said “The App gives users of smartphones and tablet devices easy access to their accounts in those ‘in-between’ moments when they have a moment before their train arrives or just before the ad breaks.”
