Microsoft rumoured to be working on Glass-like device for 2014

Microsoft is said to be working on a product comparable to Google’s Project Glass, though the specifics on the possible device are a little thin on the ground at the moment.

The speculation on Microsoft’s possible tech-glasses comes from Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White’s note to investors yesterday, where he claimed that Redmond has something along those lines in the works. Google’s project, along with Samsung’s smart-watch and Apple’s rumoured iWatch, will apparently kickstart a “major push” into the field of wearable computing devices and Microsoft will want to get in on that.

White said “It appears to us that Google has made significant breakthroughs around software applications as it relates to this new product. As such, we believe this initiative will kick off a major push into the field of wearable electronics and therefore will be closely scrutinized.”

There don’t seem to be any further details available for disclosure but White believes that Google’s Glass will launch later this year, while a similar offering from Microsoft will appear on the market in 2014.
