Google Maps has expanded Street View’s reach a little further. It has already been to the South Pole, Amazon and the Great Barrier Reef but now it will be taking users to several mountain peaks “without all of the avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from altitude and weather that mountaineers face.”
Locations that have been added to Street View include Africa’s Kilimanjaro, Argentina’s Aconcagua, Russia’s Mount Elbrus and the base camp at Mount Everest, encompassing four of the Seven Summits.
Google says that the Street View images were all captured with a a lightweight tripod and digital camera with a fisheye lens. The spartan equipment would make sense considering that Google’s photographers would have to climb the mountains first in order to
