When you pass on your Twitter account won’t have to, thanks to an AI-driven clone

An AI driven project called _LivesOn, currently still in development, promises to give social media junkies a very active afterlife once the inevitable happens and they pass from this physical plane.

The concept behind the project, which is joint venture between company Lean Mean Fighting Machine, a British advertising agency and London’s Queen Mary University, is that a user’s current Twitter activity would be mirrored as a _LivesOn account. That activity would be tracked, with an AI learning how to replicate a user’s tweeting style. Upon the user’s death, a decision would then be made as to whether to close the Twitter account or keep it going with the AI.

The AI will apparently also be able to favourite and retweet content based on a user’s behaviour but creator Dave Bedwood has also pointed out other, more immediate uses for the tweet-bot that don’t rely on death.

“It would be your twin, posting the sorts of things you’re interested in so you can go off and use your time more wisely.”
