Dell has unveiled their XPS 18, an all-in-one 18-inch PC that also doubles as a tablet, though calling it a tablet might be stretching the term just a little.
The XPS 18, like most of Dell’s devices, offers a selection of processors; from the Pentium 2117U CPU to one of the Core i3, i5 or i7 chips, with the pricing being adjusted accordingly. Weighing in at 2.2kg, the 18,4-inch 1080p multi-touch display allows users to use it as a tablet if they wish, though it isn’t going to be matching the portability of one of Apple or Samsung’s far lighter offerings any time soon.
4GB or 8GB of RAM can be selected for the all-in-one, which carries two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port. It can be propped up on a kickstand of sorts at the back, where the addition of a mouse and keyboard will turn it into a conventional desktop machine. Internal storage options range from a 320GB standard hard disk drive to the far costlier 512GB SSD. As for the pricing… that depends on what users select for the internals.
South African availability of the XPS 18 has yet to be confirmed.
