Facebook introduces new-look news feed

Facebook has previewed and explained the upcoming changes to its user’s new feeds, which are set to start rolling out in the next few weeks for the desktop web version of the social network.

The company says that the alterations are “designed to reduce clutter and focus more on stories from the people you care about” and to that end they are going to be standardising the look and feel of Facebook across platforms, making the desktop, tablet and mobile versions identical.

But the largest change will be in the feeds themselves, with the introduction of several new news feeds in addition to the current option. All Friends will show everything that a user’s Facebook friends are sharing while the Photos, Music and Following options will display shared images, music related content and information from followed pages respectively.

“We’ve completely rebuilt each story to be much more vibrant and colorful and highlight the content that your friends are sharing. Photos, news articles, maps and events all look brighter and more beautiful.”
