Next version of Windows Phone planned for year-end

A Microsoft job listing has outing the Redmond company’s plans to release the next version of the Windows Phone OS by the end of this year.

Microsoft is, according to the listing that was posted on 27 February this year, “getting ready for our next release targeting the holiday of this year.”

The advertised post for a “Software Development Engineer in Test” doesn’t feature any details beyond the targeted release period for a new iteration of Windows Phone but there are likely some substantial changes in the works, given what the team looking for a new developer does. Part of the Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team’s mandate is to oversee the Start menu, first-party apps, the shell and several other important functions.
