Nikon details new D7100 DSLR

Nikon has detailed their new 24.1 megapixel D7100 DSLR, though unfortunately they have neglected to give Stuff pricing and availability for the new shooter.

The D7100 features a 24.1-megapixel DX format CMOS sensor that eschews an optical low pass filter, backed up by an EXPEED 3 image processor and an ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 6400. Nikon says that this can be extended to an ISO of 25600 and the camera boasts high-speed continuous shooting of 6 frames per second.

The camera has a 51-point autofocus (AF) system, fifteen of which are cross-type. The D7100 supports dual SD cards that can be set to overflow or can capture JPEG and RAW on separate cards. It has a 1229k-dot wide-angle view 3.2-inch LCD display and an OLED display inside the viewfinder.

On the video recording front the D7100 can capture 1080p Full HD video in two modes, up to 60i/50i in the shooter’s new 1.3x crop mode – which offers a 1.3x telephoto effect – and up to 30p/25p/24p in DX format.

Lastly, the camera offers wireless connectivity though the addition of Nikon’s WU-1a Mobile Adapter and app for Android or iOS devices and there are several other connectivity options with the addition of other Nikon accessories. All of this is packed into a dust-sealed lightweight frame that comes in at 690 grams.
