MTN have finally made their move in the ongoing South African mobile service provider price battle.
MTN has done this with the introduction today of the new Mahala Starter Pack, which promises to convey bonuses to consumers who make frequent use of them.
The Mahala Starter Pack is set to charge at per-second rates and will give users 20% of the value of airtime recharges back as MTN-to-MTN airtime for the first six months that it is active, as long as the airtime recharge value is over R10. Each month that users recharge over R100 will net users 10MB of data free. Users will also receive 5 free SMS messages for every 15 that they send.
Another benefit is that Mahala Starter Pack owners will be able to join MTN Zone, an MTN offering that gives subscribers discounts on calls and SMS messages.
