Disney closes Epic Mickey developer Junction Point

Junction Point, the development studio founded by Warren Spector in 2005, has just been closed by its current owner, Disney Interactive. The closure comes on the back of poor critical reception and sales for the studio’s second title Epic Mickey: The Power of Two. Disney issued a statement confirming the closure.

“It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.”

Warren Spector, who is the creator of PC title Deus Ex and who worked on the Thief series, is currently unemployed as a result of the closure according to a report from Polygon.
