Twitter has announced, via a tweet thanking users, that the messaging service has reached a new milestone by clocking up more than 200 million monthly active users.
The tweet reads “There are now more than 200M monthly active @twitter users. You are the pulse of the planet. We’re grateful for your ongoing support! ”
In July this year the service counted 170 million users among its 500 million registered accounts, up considerably from 175 million registered accounts in 2010.
The increase of some 30 million active users over the past six months represents growth of 17.6% over the period for Twitter.
