Apple is reported to be working on and testing early TV set designs, according to a Wall Street Journal report which cites unnamed sources from Hon Hai Precision Industry Co.
The report claims that Apple is working on a “… few designs for a large-screen high-resolution TV” but it appears that Apple is simply toying with the idea of a television set at the moment. One of the sources is quoted as saying that Apple’s foray into the world of TV sets “…isn’t a formal project yet. It is still in the early stage of testing.”
People “familiar with the efforts” have said that Apple has been testing TV prototypes for several years but recent months have seen increase speculation and rumour on the subject of an Apple TV. The most recent hint that Apple may be turning in that direction was dropped by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
