Apple’s Tim Cook confirms US-produced Macs for 2013, hints at Apple TV

Apple CEO Tim Cook, speaking in an interview with Bloomberg, has said that US-based production of Macs will be increased in 2013, something that has been in the pipeline for a while.

Cook said “We’ve been working on this for a long time, and we were getting closer to it. It will happen in 2013. We’re really proud of it. We could have quickly maybe done just assembly, but it’s broader because we wanted to do something more substantial.”

He pointed out that Apple would not be doing the production themselves but they they would be financing it. Which variant of the Mac would be made on US soil and which this will commence was also left unsaid.

Cook has reportedly also hinted, in an interview set to air on NBC later today, that the company may be looking at that Apple TV a little harder.

“When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years. It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that.”
