Sony’s new Xperia E smartphone revealed

Today is a good day for new smartphone announcements it seems as Sony have opted to reveal the latest addition to the Xperia smartphone range, the Xperia E.

The Xperia E is intended to be an “affordable addition” to the series and will be shipping as either a single or dual-SIM (Xperia Edual) option in the first quarter of 2013. It will feature a 3.5″ HVGA display (320 x 480) and a 1GHz processor, putting the specs fairly close to the Xperia Go but without the waterproofing.

The handset has been designed to save users on both battery and data usage, with apps that will automatically stop data transmissions and shut down certain apps when the phone has been unused for a time. According to Sony the handset will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
