The x86 Pro version of Microsoft’s Surface tablet has been officially dated for January 2013, according to a Microsoft blog post. The pricing for the two flavours of the device have also been revealed.
The two versions will retail at $899 (R7,900) for the 64GB standalone option and $999 (R8,800) for the 128GB Surface. Both will ship with a Surface pen and both will support Touch or Type covers.
The blog post gives out some of the specs for the devices. A Core i5 chip from Intel will power both tablets and both will feature a full HD 1920 x 1080 10.6″ display and a USB 3.0 port. A Mini DisplayPort capable of 2560 X 1440 video output is also included and, being an x86 tablet, it will support pretty much any application your desktop is capable of running.
