iPad mini likely to be WiFi-only but 4G full version expected later

The widely expected mini version of Apple’s iPad will be a WiFi-only tablet, according to a report from The Guardian.

The report cites several industry sources as saying that the 7.8″ tablet will only be able to connect through a WiFi network, but the sources go on to say that a 4G LTE version of the current 9.7″ iPad is also in the works for Europe. The LTE iPad, which will apparently be compatible with the UK’s Everything Everywhere LTE network, will also feature a Lightning port.

3G-capable versions of the iPad mini are not expected by the unnamed sources, since Apple is likely looking to limit the pricing on the tablet in order to better compete with existing 7″ tablet offerings.

Analyst estimates, should the iPad mini go on sale by 2 November as expected, peg sales for the device at 10 million units by the end of the year.
