Apple has been accused of infringing on the design of an iconic Swiss clock used by the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) in the company’s clock app for the newly-released iOS 6.
The clock in Apple’s app bears a very close resemblance to the design created in 1944 by Hans Hilfiker and used in railway stations around Switzerland. The design is also licensed to Swiss watch manufacturer Mondaine.
In the original report in Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger an SBB spokesman reportedly said that he was pleased that Apple opted for the design but pointed out that the company legally isn’t permitted to do so. The report seems to suggest that a legal complaint is being drafted to rectify the situation.
