Initial iPhone 5 supply sells out – report

The first run of iPhone 5 handsets sold out today after an hour, according to reports.

Users in the States looking to buy an iPhone 5 handset from Apple’s website have seen that the shipping times for their phones have shifted from the 21 September launch date to “two weeks”.

Some American online stores experienced problems when pre-orders for Apple’s latest gadget went live early this morning but Apple’s European online outlets are reported to be handling the pre-order rush with few problems.

Accessories that are compatible with Apple’s new Lightning adapter, including the Lightning-to-USB converter, are also said to be in short supply. Delivery times when ordering these items had gone from 1 to 3 days to 2 to three weeks.
