Acer CEO to Microsoft – “Think twice” on Surface tablet

Acer CEO JT Wang has reportedly told the Financial Times that Microsoft’s pending Surface tablet could be a “…negative for the worldwide ecosystem” and has asked Microsoft to rethink releasing the device.

Wang said “We have said think it over. Think twice. It will create a huge negative impact for the ecosystem and other brands may take a negative reaction. It is not something you are good at so please think twice.”

Hardware partners were kept in the dark regarding the release of Surface until the announcement in June this year and the new hardware from Microsoft has Acer, at least, a little worried about where the partnership will go.

“If Microsoft is going to do hardware business, what should we do? Should we still rely on Microsoft, or should we find other alternatives?”
