Microsoft have given a solid date for the release of the Surface tablets, confirming that the devices will be available on 26 October. This is the same date that Windows 8 launches.
Microsoft said in a report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission “The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012. At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices.”
The first Surface tablets to be released will be the Windows RT versions. The Intel-based Surface Pro is expected to launch around January 2013. Details on pricing for the tablets will be revealed closer to the product’s launch.
