Nokia closing two Chinese offices in restructuring

Nokia is restructuring its businesses in China and will be closing their offices in Chengdu and Shanghai. To compensate for this, the company will reportedly be expanding operations at its two other facilities, situated in Beijing and Guangzhou.

According to the Wall Street Journal layoffs will be happening primarily in the company’s sales division though the number of people who will find themselves out of work has not been specified.

The cellphone manufacturer is reportedly looking to increase their visibility in the Chinese smartphone sphere and regain some of its market share via the largely untapped market in that country. Unfortunately the fertile grounds in China are also fair game for every other manufacturer.
