Instagram’s latest update adds Explore tab

Instagram’s latest update (2.5), the first to come to the photo-sharing app since Facebook acquired the company, brings along with it some new features, though the iPhone and Android versions are not the same.

iPhone users are getting a retooled profile tab, the new Explore tab which replaces the Popular tab, visual, speed and commenting improvements, search autocompletes and the option to share likes with Facebook. This last item is not enabled by default but users can choose to enable it via their Profile (Profile > Sharing Settings > Facebook).

Android users have a comments bugfix, the optional Facebook cross-integration and the new Explore tab to look forward to.

The Explore tab is the highlight of the update and allows users to browse through images by username and hashtag while also allowing viewing of popular images through the same tab.
