Late last month we covered some Apple memorabilia that was due to be auctioned off at Sotheby’s in New York. The two items, a working Apple 1 and some hand-written notes penned by Steve Jobs, were expected to fetch between $120,000 and $180,000 (Apple 1) and $10,000 and $15,000 (Steve Jobs’ notes).
The auction has since concluded and the items managed to bypass the price estimates by a considerable margin. The Apple 1, one of 6 that are accounted for out of 50 that are believed to still exist, sold for a staggering $374,500. The hand-written notes from Steve Jobs’ days at Atari sold for $27,500, almost doubling the initial estimate.
If you happen to be sitting on an Apple 1 system in some forgotten corner of the house, now might be the time to see how much someone else is willing to pay for it.
